Jessica was practicing her hydrokinesis, she needed to get better at it if she was to go to Perdido Beach. She started like she always did, with small waves and ripples in the pond. The waves grew and then Jess moved her hands so that they seemed to pushing out. The water parted so that the muddy bottom was visable.

The small pond was deep and fish were on the ground, flopping around. Jess let the water go and sighed. Then she clenched her hands and punched them into the air. Water shot out of the pond, earth and other particles falling from the ball of water in the air. Jess, with her fists clenched and up in the air splayed her fingers and the water spread into the air.

Jess pressed her forefingers against her palms and the water turned to ice. Then she threw her hands forward, the ice shooting toward the opposite side of the pond. They stuck into the ground as they connected with soft earth. The blonde girl smirked, her hydrokinesis was slowly but surely getting much better.

All of a sudden Jessica was startled by a cat that took a drink out of the pond she was by. She broke her concentration and the water she had made rose out of the water again, fell back into the pond. Then the cat ran off and Jess shook her head, frustrated, these days it was hard to find a place where there were no distractions.

Jess sighed she decided she wanted to try something. She started to chase after the cat but all of a sudden she ran into Emily who seemed to come out of no where. Jess fell to the ground, spluttering and shaking from the sudden suprise. She pushed herself up and got angry. "Watch where you're going! Did you see where that cat went? I want to experiment with it."

Now that she thought about it, it was the only normal looking animal she'd seen in a while. The others were mutated in some way or in the process of becoming mutated.
